General Surgery

General Surgery

General surgery, although it carries the word general, is actually a surgical specialty.
A good general surgeon not only manages a wide range of patients and their various problems but is also responsible for patient care before, during, and after surgery.
All surgeons should begin their training in general surgery; After becoming a general surgeon, many doctors go on to get other surgical specialties.

who is General Surgeon?

Contrary to its name, a general surgeon is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal organs (such as the intestines), which include the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland (depending on how accessible it is).

General surgeons also deal with diseases involving the skin, breast, and hernia. They mainly deal with the trunk.
Since general surgery specialists in many centers of the world are the first level of providing services to accidental patients and life-threatening emergencies, their scope of activities and abilities is very wide and when necessary, they are able to perform emergency surgeries in other fields such as Orthopedic surgeries, gynecological surgeries, urological surgeries, and in some cases neurosurgeries as well.

General surgery specialists are called general because they are able to perform surgery on all body parts.
